Architecture Chair and Associate Professor John McMorrough will speak as a panelist at the upcoming launch of P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S' new book Embedded on February 9, 2012, at Studio-X NYC. Embedded documents the work and research of P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S, the award-winning practice founded in Los Angeles in 1999, and includes a collection of more than twenty projects and writings by co-principals of P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S, Marcelo Spina and Georgina Huljich, with contributing essays by McMorrough and others. McMorrough's panel at the event is titled "Towards a Unified Field Theory of Architecture." The launch of Embedded brings together authors, contributors, mentors and confabulators to discuss some of the most relevant issues haunting contemporary architectural practice and discourse today, such as the perceived divide between progressive design culture, the politics of form and social responsibility. As a practice that seeks to move between digital and material expressions, P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S describes its form-making as driven by digital techniques and advanced computation.
